Starting this fall with students admitted for 2019, the University of Iowa Honors Program will require an application for first-year students interested in joining Honors at Iowa. The application will include a transcript, an essay, and an activities list.
Previously, students with a 3.8 GPA and 30 ACT received an invite to join the Honors Program. The new process will require any admitted student interested in the program to submit an honors application.
Students who apply for the Honors Program by November 15 will be notified by February 1 if they have been accepted into the program. Students who apply by February 1 will be notified by April 1. After February 1, applications will be accepted as space is available.
Honors at Iowa offers excellent learning opportunities through research, creative projects, cultural exploration, and community engagement. Honors students also have access to academic and community resources, private study spaces, and support to help them reach their goals.
