Iowa named a ‘Best Buy’ for a college education

Posted on November 22, 2019November 22, 2019

The Fiske Guide to Colleges has named the University of Iowa a “Best Buy” for 2020.

It is the 15th straight year that the University of Iowa has been recognized with the distinction. Only 10 public universities made the list this year.

The creation of a former New York Times education editor, the Fiske Guide has been a respected college search tool used by parents, college-bound students, and their guidance counselors for 30 years.

To receive a “Best Buy” designation, schools had to have high academic rankings, an inexpensive or moderate price, and a high quality of student life on campus. In all, 20 schools received the “Best Buy” designation, including 10 private institutions.

Students and families can use the University of Iowa Net Price Calculator to estimate their cost of attendance and any financial aid for which they may qualify.
