The deadline to apply for one of the University of Iowa’s most prestigious scholarships is quickly approaching.
Applications and supporting documents for the Shoemaker-Strickler Memorial Scholarships should be submitted by February 2, 2015.
The University of Iowa Chemistry and Physics departments will each award up to two scholarships covering the full cost of tuition, fees, and books for up to four years. Outstanding first-year students majoring in Chemistry or Physics who present an ACT composite score of 30 or above and a cumulative high school GPA of 3.8 or above are eligible for the award.
Students wishing to apply for the Shoemaker-Strickler Memorial Scholarships must:
- Fill out and submit online application by February 2, 2015.
- Submit an essay.
- Submit a list of school and community activities.
- Provide the names and email addresses of three people affiliated with their high school who will provide letters of recommendation. Students must make arrangements for the letters of recommendation to be sent to the Liberal Arts and Sciences Scholarship Committee by February 9, 2015. References will receive an email explaining the submission process. Recommendation letters will not be accepted until the student’s scholarship application has been successfully submitted online.
Scholarship award announcements will be mailed to all applicants by April 15, 2015.
