The University of Iowa has added international studies as a major for transfer students in the 2 Plus 2 Guaranteed Graduation Plan.
By following the 2 Plus 2 program checkpoints while attending one of 10 Iowa community colleges that offer the course work required to transfer in international studies, students admitted to the program are guaranteed access to the UI courses they’ll need to receive the BA degree after two more years of study. Students must sign up and be admitted to the 2 Plus 2 program before transferring.
International studies is a multidisciplinary program that allows students to explore world cultures and themes of global significance from such disciplines as history, anthropology, economics, geography, literature, religious studies, world languages, the arts and art history. The degree prepares students for careers in business, government, international development agencies, non-governmental organizations, philanthropic agencies, and the arts.
Iowa now offers 24 majors through the 2 Plus 2 program, including business, psychology, social work, and communication studies. Not all majors are available through all Iowa community colleges.
