Important Dates for First-Year Students for Fall 2018

Today – Make sure your students are taking these steps to stay on track to joining the Hawkeye family

  • Submit an application for admission to the University of Iowa. March 1 is the deadline for students to apply for admission in order to be considered for merit-based scholarships.
  • File the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 and preferably by Nov. 15, 2017.
  • Apply for housing through the Admissions Profile on
  • Accept our offer of admission by paying the $250 acceptance fee through the Admissions Profile on

January – Students will begin receiving notification about their financial aid award. This process continues through July.

March 1 – Students can submit their Orientation reservation through their Admissions Profile on MyUI. Students are only invited once they accept our offer of admission and pay the $250 acceptance fee. Students can begin taking placement tests starting in March and should have them completed at least two weeks before attending their Orientation.

April 1 – Deadline for students to submit updated seventh semester (or second trimester) transcript and/or official test score for scholarship reconsideration.

May 1 – Deadline to accept our offer of admission.

July 1 – Official test scores and high school transcripts are due by this date. Students should have their final transcripts sent to the Office of Admissions promptly after they graduate.
