The Tippie College of Business has updated its direct admission criteria for first-year students and added an experiential learning requirement to graduate from Iowa with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Effective for first-year students applying for Fall 2016 and beyond, the direct admission criteria for the Tippie College of Business will change to an ACT composite score of 26 or higher and a high school GPA of 3.60 or above. Applicants who do not meet the criteria for direct admission but present strong academic records will be carefully considered. Incoming high school students admitted to the pre-business major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences may petition for direct admission to the Tippie College of Business by submitting a request for individual review.
Starting this year, the college has introduced Tippie RISE to the undergraduate experience, further enhancing the professional development of Tippie College of Business students. The program establishes a graduation requirement that challenges students to gain awareness of business professions and advance their professional competencies.
A Tippie RISE experience consists of: research, internship, study abroad, or experiential course. Students will need to complete one of those four experiences to graduate from Tippie. Those who complete more than one RISE experience will be recognized at graduation. Students will use their Tippie Roadmap and work with academic and career advisors to plan their RISE experience.
