The University of Iowa has two new $1,000 scholarships for Iowa high school students with qualifying GPAs and ACT/SAT scores.
The new Iowa Scholars Award is for first-year students who are Iowa residents with an ACT composite score of 27 or above (or a combined SAT critical reading and math score of 1210 or above) and a cumulative high school GPA of 3.80 or above on a 4.00 scale. Students with an ACT of 30 or above (or a combined SAT critical reading and math score of 1330 or above) and a high school GPA of 3.70 or above on a 4.00 scale also are eligible. Students are considered automatically upon admission for this one-time, $1,000 award.
Students majoring in engineering who meet the same criteria will also be awarded the one-time, $1,000 Engineering@Iowa Scholars Award.
For students applying for admission in fall 2012, December 9 is the deadline to apply for The University of Iowa’s most prestigious scholarship program, the Presidential Scholarship Program, which is valued at up to $13,000 a year for up to four years.
The University of Iowa also offers several other Scholarships for First-Year Students, and students are encouraged to also review scholarships listed on individual UI departmental web sites and those offered by external organizations such as the College Board, FastWeb, and SallieMae.
